Math SAT Subject Tests

There are two SAT subject tests in math, Math Level 1 and Math Level 2, both offered six times each year in California. Both are one-hour tests with 50 multiple-choice questions. Prep Corps recommends students take the test in which they will achieve the highest score.

Math Level 1: This test is intended for students who have taken three years of math in high school, including two years of Algebra and one year of Geometry. This test includes the following topics: numbers and operations, algebra and functions, geometry and measurement (including some trigonometry), and data analysis, statistics and probability. This test is significantly easier that the Math Level 2 test.

Math Level 2: This test is intended for students who have taken more than three years of math in high school, including two years of Algebra, one year of Geometry and one or two semesters of elementary functions (pre-calculus) and/or trigonometry. This test includes all of the same topics as does the Math Level 1 test, but has more questions in the more advanced topics.
